Brad is currently with the eBay Stelling Style tour. He talked to us about the tour, his career, and life in Los Angeles.
Tell us a bit about the eBay "Selling Style" tour. What exactly is it and what can people expect when they show up?
The eBay Selling Style Studio tour is an interactive experience that’s popping up in cities coast to coast this summer. Attendees are invited to bring handbags, shoes, sunglasses, denim and we’ll help them get started selling on eBay, taking them through eBay’s simplified four-step selling process -- script, shoot, price and list -- and even provide pre-paid shipping for their items.
How did you get involved with eBay's Chic Squad and what is your role on the tour?
The Chic Squad is a group of fashion and celebrity stylists and top eBay sellers who are inspiring selling on eBay. We’re offering advice on what to sell and how to sell, so that style lovers can free up closet space and cash to buy more fashion!
We don't all have a trendy wardrobe; are the methods you'll be going over [at the event] applicable for non-chic wardrobe items?
Of course! You don’t have to have all designer items to be a successful seller on eBay. Think like a buyer and be creative when listing your items. As long as your item is in good condition and you are ready to part ways, list it! Ray Bans, J. Brands, Betsey Johnson and BCBG are all super in-demand brands on eBay right now.
What advice do you have for the people who are interested in selling their style online but just don't know where to begin?
If you’re not able to visit us at any of our tour stops this summer, check out the videos I made that walk you through the new, simplified selling experience, at eBay.com/sellingstyle. There are also tons of tips and tricks available on the site to help people get started figuring out their own selling style.
We all know there are different fashion rules depending on someone's body. What style tips do you have that will work for anybody?
Have fun! Try new things -- but always stick with what you feel best in. Not every trend needs to be tried.
How did you get into fashion? Was it something you always loved or something that evolved later on?
I was encouraged by my boyfriend Gary and after my first internships in the fashion world I knew this was what I am supposed to do!
Did you ever think you would end up on television?
I had no idea that working in the fashion world would lead to being on TV. It's crazy how things work out!
It seems to have paved the way for It's a Brad, Brad World. What can an unsuspecting viewer expect when they turn on your show?
Lots of Fashion, and traveling. This is going to be a really fun season. I have more employees and more clients. Things are going great!
Tell us a bit about your new book Born to be Brad. How long was it in the works?
It all happened very quickly. It tells everything from growing up in Canada to the fashion world today. It is also filled with lots of great styling tips!
We understand it's memoir meets style guide. Why did you choose that format and what were some of the joys and challenges of writing this book?
I choose that format because I get asked all the time about how I got my start in fashion, what I have been influenced by and of course styling tips, I wanted it to be a fun read and you walk away learning something about my life and the challenges I have faced that have helped me to get where I am today!
What's next for you? Another book? Another TV show?
Next for me…I'm working on Season 2 of It's a Brad Brad World! My client list is expanding and life is busier than ever. Some great things happening with Kate Spade and I’m styling lots of editorial projects!
