In 2013 LA rockers ACIDIC teamed up with John Ryan of Chicago Kid Productions (Santana, Styx, Lynrd Skynrd) for the release of their fourth album Copper Man. They toured the U.S with Hinder, Trapt, and performed in 48 cities with Smile Empty Soul.
But 2014 is looking even brighter: this summer ACIDIC joined Vans Warped Tour, America’s premiere music festival that has been breaking up-and-coming indie talent since 1995.
“There is always room for some stupid and fun hard rock on the Warped Tour and California’s ACIDIC are glad to provide it. Fronted by the gleefully demented Michael Gossard, ACIDIC plays silly music with serious energy,” said Darryl Smyers of the Dallas Observer.
Copper Man has received critical praise. “ACIDIC took the stage by storm opening the night with their set and a song titled Drive Thru, from their album Copper Man. With a hint of a Green Day sound, this trio never slowed down once they took the stage. Throwing in their rendition of Come Together by the Beatles had everyone along for the ride,” said Erika Thomas of Screamer Magazine.
Benjamin Ricci of Performer Magazine said, “Straight from the get go, ACIDIC brings forth its frenetic energy and passionate sound in waves of indie alternative delight. Copper Man opens up this ten-song album with distortion-glazed guitars, dazzling percussion and bass and high-octane rocket powered vocals.”
This weekend ACIDIC is playing the Higher Grounds Music Festival in Denver. Lead singer Michael Gossard took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to tell us what we can expect.
Tell us about the Higher Ground Music Festival. Is this your first time playing there?
This will be our first time playing the Higher Ground Music festival. We are veterans of the Denver music scene and are excited to expand our reach with our participation in the storied festival.
What do you expect the show to be like?
I expect this show to be special. We have played many festivals over the year and have learned that the best way to make the most of it is by interacting with the crowd on and off the stage. We are going to try to meet as many people as we can!
Any surprises in store for festival goers?
You are going to see a lot of our new/unreleased music. We are using this tour as a text group for our new stuff so that we know what works and what doesn't. Get ready for energy.
What's up next for ACIDIC?
We are going to be touring more; playing festivals and recording another album to ensure that next year is bigger than the last!
