Greener Cities Today and Tomorrow

on Tuesday, 13 November 2012. Posted in Ysmay's Blog

In today's push for a more environmentally friendly human experience, the process of taking a large metropolitan area and making it "green" may seem daunting or even impossible. Never fear; there a myriad of ways to fit all budgets that can get your suburban hamlet or thriving city on the path to ecological balance.

Expansion of public transportation and other forms of shared rides is one of the most common ways to "green" a city, reducing fuel consumption and pollution levels along the route. While the implementation costs of a new wireless temperature system may be prohibitive in some districts, nearly any town can start a trend of rooftop and backyard gardening at minimal cost. More gardens mean larger farmer's markets, and programs like Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) help expand the access of citizens and families to fresh produce, combating the growing problem of food deserts.

There are many ways to make your hometown more eco-friendly. Where will you start?
